Open Water Diver is the entry level scuba certification, which allows you to rent gear and air most places around the world. It also opens the doors to many unique dive sites and experiences. It includes "book" learning, confined water sessions held in a pool and open water sessions which are usually held at Lake Phoenix. Generally, an Open Water Diver class is planned for two weekends learning in the pool and one weekend completing the open water sessions. Because of our individualized approach, we work to accommodate students that may need more time and instruction to be fully comfortable and safe divers. If you have any concerns about taking the course, reach out and talk to one of our instructors who would be happy to talk you through the process. If you still are not sure this is for you, consider checking out a Discover Scuba Diving class to give it a try before you commit to a full Open Water Diver Course.
Have you always wondered what it's like to breathe underwater? If you want to try scuba diving, but aren't quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is for you. We offer this experience in our personal pool. While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. This is a particularly great class to take if you are interested in a full Open Water Diver Course, but are unsure if scuba diving is for you. If you enroll in an Open Water Diver Course within seven calendar days of your Discover Scuba Diving class at Fluvanna Dive Center, we will take $50 off your Open Water Diver Course price. To sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, you must be at least 10 years old.
Improve your dive skills, learn how to go deeper safely, and work on navigation. This class touches on a number of other skills as you do one dive from each of five separate specialties. This is often the next step after taking an Open Water Diver Course and gives the diver more opportunities to take part in trips or dives that may require Advanced Open Water. This course is also great to try out a small piece of multiple specialties, helping you decide which parts of diving most interest you so you can pursue them further. You must be at least 12 years old for Advanced Open Water and you must already have been certified as an Open Water Diver.
Rescue Diver course will change the way you dive – in the best possible way. Learn to identify and fix minor issues before they become big problems, gain a lot of confidence and have serious fun along the way, along with becoming a better dive buddy. Individual skills, like towing a tired diver, are taught in this course. It continues on with full scenarios to teach the student how to work through potential problems confidently. This course is required to become either a Master Diver or a Divemaster. You must be 12 years or older to enroll in this course and also must have completed CPR and First Aid Training in the last 24 months to complete this course. We offer these courses as well if you need them.
ReActivate is the engaging, efficient way to refresh your scuba skills. Move quickly through topics you know well and dive deeper into topics where your knowledge may have lapsed. We focus on the topics you need most. If there are any particular skills you feel you need extra work on, let us know and we can assist you! If you haven't been diving in a while and want to be ready for that next vacation, this is a great course for you.
Do you want to spend some time one on one with an instructor to work on a specific skill or set of skills? Does what you need not exactly fit a course, or you have taken one and need some extra work? With consultation diving, you will work with one of our instructors at either our pool or at Lake Phoenix to improve those skills you just need extra time or eyes on. We work with you to make a plan that gives you exactly what you need.
